La Cañada Architectural Home

About the Design

This is a century-old landmark that needed restoration and love.  In a major reconstruction of the kitchen after the Northridge earthquake, we collapsed maid’s quarters to create an adjoining family room with a desk, replicated windows and quarter-sawn oak woodwork from other parts of the house, added coffered ceilings, a fireplace and window seat. The Scottish-based home has lovely original details which are now restored:  stained glass and clerestory windows, light fixtures, newly designed plaster ceilings, picture moldings, balconies and a southern exposure for maximum light.
